Doxford Hall is a classical Regency country house wedding venue. It’s so romantic, as though straight from the set of a Jane Austen drama. Photo opportunities abound, both inside and out, with its rich interiors and architectural detailing.

Doxford Hall is a classical Regency country house wedding venue. It’s so romantic, as though straight from the set of a Jane Austen drama…
Photo opportunities abound, both inside and out this venue, with its rich interiors and architectural detailing. A canopied stone staircase tucked into the corner of the front facade for example is so perfect for showing off a spectacular bridal gown!
Its 10 acres of gardens and grounds include secret walled gardens with espaliered fruit trees, the yew tree maze (Europe’s largest don’t you know?) and the terrace area, with stone balustrades overlooking the rolling countryside.
This four red star venue is a fabulously elegant country wedding celebration – the venue has good rail and road links and is just a 10 minute drive from Alnwick.
Doxford Hall feels inviting and the team are friendly and welcoming to ensure that you and your guests feel right at home in this beautiful country house. Doxford’s characterful rooms exude period detail and style, with lovely antiques, china and paintings to add to its ‘at home’ vibe.
The Kennedy Suite has recently enjoyed a ‘refresh’, to enhance its already spectacular style. The refurbishment project includes a new oak floor, with a subtle ‘frost’ finish, and full decoration resulting in a soft grey heritage-inspired scheme enhancing the reception space, including the private bar area, which is in complementary grey tones as well. The Ballroom’s new spacious, brighter feel is accentuated by improved lighting, which complements the suite’s glittering array of crystal chandeliers and gilt-framed Rococo-style mirrors.
There are several areas that are also licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships, The George Runciman suite with its columns and deep red interiors is magnificent for a winter wedding for up to 160 guests; whilst The Library and Flower Room have a character all of their own, the latter boasting the most awe-inspiring Neoclassical Arched window and The Library having a exquisitely detailed stained glass ceiling rose; then there is Frank Henry Mason a beautiful oak panelled reception room ideal for an intimate candle-lit wedding breakfast.
The Aqueous Spa adds even more appeal with its wonderful range of spa treatments ensuring bridal couples and guests are preened to look and feel their best. A ‘dressing room’ can be arranged for the bride and bridesmaids on the day, in which to enjoy the fun and ritual of preparing for the day ahead, whilst enjoying a glass of fizz and other treats!
Accommodation is 36 stately rooms and suites, all individually decorated in country house style, and including four-poster suites, which are often favoured by the bridal couple – The Coach House and The Head Gardener’s Cottage provide additional accommodation for guests, close to the main Hall.
We would like to thank Doxford Hall and all their amazing staff for making our wedding day even better than what we could have imagined. From first looking at the venue, on paper, Doxford Hall met all our “would likes”. When sending queries, the Wedding Coordinators were attentive and responded to all queries promptly. When we arranged our first viewing and drove into the grounds of Doxford Hall we knew it was a very strong contender for our venue, but as we had our meeting with the Wedding Coordinators and found out more on what was available, we knew Doxford Hall was the perfect venue for us and booked there and then. Dealing with Doxford Hall after booking our wedding was such a pleasure and no query was too much. The weeks running up to the wedding were made less stressful by how supportive the the Wedding Coordinator, Jon Allan, and Receptionist Kelly were. Having Jon on hand all day was a blessing as he ensured everything ran to time or made slight changes as needed. All our guests have commented on how amazing the wedding was and we believe a big part of that was down to the amazing venue and all the fantastic staff who work at Doxford Hall.

Craig and I would like to thank all of the team at Doxford Hall, you guys were all amazing for our big day back in July. Thank you Ben for making sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn’t have chosen a better reception venue, memories we will cherish for a lifetime… Everything was perfect and we have you to thank, your attention to detail is amazing, thank you so so much. We’ll be back for our anniversary next year!
We would highly recommend Doxford Hall as a wedding venue. We genuinely had a beautiful day. Everything went according to plan and without a hitch. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made me, as the bride, feel special, clapping me and complimenting me on how I looked all the way to the doors of the ceremony. We stayed for three days and my husband and I, and our guests, felt like the hotel was ours alone, despite other guests in the hotel. The food was outstanding throughout our stay, especially the wedding breakfast.
