Saltmarshe Hall is a historic 19th century stately home located in mature parkland in the secluded countryside of Yorkshire, with 14 luxury rooms, a three bedroom converted stable house and two bedroom cottage based on the estate. The grounds offer extensive lawns, wooded areas and a secluded walled garden which contains an array of colour with its kitchen garden, hornbeam hedges and bordered walkways.
Fronted by the River Ouse and set in 17 acres of stunning Yorkshire countryside, picturesque views can be seen from all areas of the Hall. Howden train station is only a ten minute drive from the Hall, making life a little easier for guests who are travelling from other cities.
Saltmarshe Hall boasts both style and elegance. Their wedding space, as well as their stunning bedrooms have been carefully designed with photography in mind.
All reception rooms inside the Hall are licensed for weddings, but how about complementing this with an outdoor ceremony? With acres of beautiful grounds you can guarantee a unique celebration. From serene woodland setting or under a canopy of blossom trees, there are endless options for a perfect ceremony.
Their ethos is to listen to what you want; they don’t enforce any off the shelf packages. They facilitate the day and let your creative input flourish. Their promise is they never hold more than one wedding a day; so the Hall is well and truly your house.

We had the most amazing wedding day at Saltmarshe Hall. The unique venue, food, staff and service were second to none. Particular mention must go to James for his organisation, calm approach and making everything run smoothly. We can wholeheartedly recommend the Hall to anyone for their special day.
Hidden gem – Saltmarshe does not disappoint on any aspect. What a fabulous find! My husband and I stayed here as part of a treat to celebrate our wedding anniversary and wow! It is not just the beautifully appointed rooms or the fabulous grounds and setting or the deliciously yummy food that made it a perfect stay, but the people that worked there made it a second to none experience. Everyone that we came into contact with was so friendly, professional and just naturally showed so much enthusiasm about Saltmarshe Hall and they really wanted to ensure we had a great stay. We even got a tour around from Chris whose enthusiasm for the place rubs off. The atmosphere the team create is what makes this place so different – you are in the most beautiful of surroundings – and clearly a lot of money, energy and thought has gone into this place – but it doesn’t feel formal or stuffy and you can really relax here. The attention we received from the whole team was excellent. Saltmarshe does not disappoint.
Can’t thank Saltmarshe Hall enough for their efforts in making our wedding day the most perfect day ever. Special thanks to Kate who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed on the day and beforehand. All of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue is and how wonderful the accommodation at the hall was – the bridal suite – WOW. The décor and design are so tasteful. Staff were all friendly approachable and so professional, massive thank you to everyone. The food was delicious- we had sharing platters (these were presented beautifully and so much food), Yorkshire pudding & beef (with gravy to die for), and a trio of desserts (cheesecake heaven). During the night we had pizzas which were probably the best I have ever had. I was initially worried about setting up as there had been a wedding the day before, so time was tight, but I shouldn’t have panicked. Kate made sure everything was perfect and we were ready in plenty of time. I could not recommend Saltmarshe Hall more highly if you are considering it for your wedding venue. We felt at home immediately and were made to feel so special by the caring and lovely staff. We will definitely be returning to Saltmarshe Hall.
My new husband and I got married at Saltmarshe Hall on Saturday and cannot thank them enough for making our wedding day so special. The venue speaks for itself with its beautiful rooms, the perfect combination of old and new, and its idyllic location, it really is picture perfect however, it’s the staff at Saltmarshe that really bring it to life. I cannot tell you how many of our guests commented on the standard of service they received, the whole team are so relaxed and friendly that it enabled everyone to really enjoy themselves. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food from the canapés to the Hot Dog sausages, we had a few dietary requirements which were taken in to full consideration and I know this isn’t easy when catering for so many people, all the food was a resounding success with our guests so please thank your chef and catering team for doing such an excellent job. Our wedding co-ordinator Hannah has been fantastic, nothing has been too much trouble, she was there to help guide us through our wedding plans, and supported us every step of the way on our special day. From seeing everything written out on paper, the team at Saltmarshe made it all a reality so its thanks to them that we got the day we’d always dreamed of. Ryan and I along with all our guests have been overwhelmed by the service and think you should be proud of standards you’ve achieved.
We had the most perfect day and this was all down to Kate, Hannah, Jim and the rest of the staff. They were absolutely brilliant and every single person praised them. The hall and grounds looked spectacular. The food was perfect. Thank you all so much.
