About

The Setting

Young V&A is perfect for a London crowd from Central or East London, located only one tube stop away from Liverpool Street Station with excellent links via tube, bus and taxi.

It sits alongside Bethnal Green’s vibrant East London community, and its east side looks out over the serene Museum Gardens park. The building is a Grade II listed and was founded in 1872, so it has beautiful period features, including a hand-laid mosaic floor and decorative wrought iron balconies.

The Vibe

The V&A celebrates one of the most successful and enduring marriages in British history: the marriage between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. V&A Museums are incredible monuments of dedication and love between Victoria and Albert and their shared passion for bringing art and design to all.

Young V&A (formerly V&A Museum of Childhood) opened in 1872 as East London’s first-ever museum and embedded itself at the heart of the local community. Over 150 years later, the site has been radically rejuvenated to become Young V&A, a new national museum and powerhouse of design, creativity and young people.

Their event spaces are versatile, distinctive, and unforgettable. You can customise your experience to ensure you include all the remarkable features the Museum offers. With a high arched ceiling, wrought iron detailing and a feeling of grand scale, Young V&A has a modern-meets-industrial feel popular with wedding clients looking for an impressive and versatile venue with history and personality. Its primary event spaces are neutral in colour, allowing you to customise the space with lighting and décor. Still, there is also injected personality in the surrounding galleries to ensure your guests feel like they are in a dynamic and exciting space. Nothing is as exciting as having a museum venue for yourself and your guests.

The Marble Floor is at the heart of the Museum, literally and historically, featuring the original mosaic marble floor that was laid in 1872 when the Museum first opened. Lit by magnificent half-moon windows, the Marble Floor features wrought iron architecture and lofty ceilings that create an open, expansive space. At one end, a newly installed dramatic spiral staircase provides a beautiful vista and a dramatic location for wedding entrances, musical performances and speeches. With a sizeable in-built bar, the Marble Floor is a fabulous spot for a drinks reception, seated dinner or dancefloor reception beneath the sweeping ceiling and overhead balconies.

Before guests enjoy wedding receptions and dinners on the Marble Floor, they have a second event space for pre-dinner drinks or wedding ceremonies. The Summerly Room is an exciting new event space: a clean, bright, modern space. This room is a blank canvas easily styled with décor and lighting to suit any event theme or vision.

Many people foster fond memories of visiting the Museum as young people or want to celebrate their union in an institution that lies at the heart of the East London community. The Young V&A stands as a lynchpin of the local area, but relationships make a community unique, and the team at Young V&A are honoured to celebrate with couples on their special day.

By holding your wedding celebration here, you directly support the Museum’s efforts to support young people, their exciting exhibition programme and helping the venue to keep admission free to all.

To explore how you can customise your wedding for a truly memorable and unique day, their dedicated events team will guide you alongside your fabulous suppliers and planners to help you make treasured memories of your dream day.
